What is Common
Proficiency Test?
Common Proficiency Test is also referred as CPT. This exam is
the starting point to become a Chartered Accountants. CPT exam is organized by
the ICAI-The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
What Kind of Test?
The CPT Test papers has completely objective type questions and there is also negative marking for
each wrong answer. Fundamentals of accounting, Mercantile Laws, general
economics and Quantitative Aptitude are the subjects for this exam.
Test Duration:
The Test is divided into two sessions and time limit for
each session is 2 hours.

When is the Test Taken?
This exam is held twice in a year. So candidate can opt
suitable exam time according to their comfort and preparation.The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India(ICAI) is the organizer of CPT Exam which is held in the
month of June and December.Exam of the month June passed away ,now it is the time to wait for December.
The Eligibility Criteria For CPT
- The Candidate who passed 10+2 examination from any recognized institution.
- If candidate is not passed 10+2 then he/she must be registered with the ICAI.
